Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps: |
I left The Philippines in July, 1968, travelled for five months, and arrived home in Philadelphia in December, 1968. Worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer, taught at The Episcopal Academy and later at Delaware Valley College. I married in January, 1970. Our daughter was born in 1978; we're grandparents of two boys. I had a career in acting for seventeen years. Retired now. Life is good.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?: |
For twenty or so years after I came home, I thought about my experiences in The Philippines at least once a day; for the next twenty years it was at least twice a week. Nowadays it's still pretty often. I treasure the memories of my life there; I learned so much, certainly much more than I think I taught. I take great satisfaction in knowing that so many of the Volunteers I trained with and worked with feel as I do.

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?: |
I'd appreciate hearing from any of the gang (XIV) who trained at San Jose State in the summer of 1965. You know, the people who flew to Manila in September on the Pan American airplane named "Luningning Arroyo." You know who you are! Special mention to Tom Rounds and Avery Hunt!
|
Any message for returned volunteers?: |
Keep the faith. Yeah, yeah, I know: preaching to the faithful! You did the right thing by volunteering, and you'll keep realizing that throughout your life.
