I have been trying to obtain copies or a summary of Turkmen legislation with regard to custody and maintainance of children in the event of divorce. We are a Dubai based company dealing with the import and export of Stationery and Printing supplies. Two years ago we employed a Turkmen lady of Russian extraction to take charge of sales in Russia and the CIS. She now wishes to bring her 12 years old son to live with her here in Dubai. The problem she has is, that as she is divorced in Turkmenistan and to issue a residence visa for her son to live in Dubai under her sponsorship, the Dubai Immigration dept is requesting a document giving her custody of the boy. She has advised us that these sorts of documents are not normaly issued at the time of uncontested divorce and therefore she cannot provide them. The immigration dept has stated that if she can provide documentary evidence in the form of copies of legislation or legal directives, then they will be able to issue the visa. Regards Steve Vince |
