Hints on how to use this bulletin board to find someone.

There are two things you can do find a Lost Volunteer using this Bulletin Board.

First, leave as much information as you can about the person: their full name, their nickname, any previous address you have for him or her, where they went to high school and college, where (city and country) they served in in the Peace Corps, what program they were in, where they were the last time you saw them, who they worked for, where they went to graduate school, any professional societies, etc.

Here is an example of a listing that we think should get results.

The second thing you can do to find a lost volunteer is provide a link to Peace Corps Online from your own web page if you have one.

Sooner or later, everybody looks up their own name on "Google." This web site is crawled by "Google" at least twice a month. If you have put enough information into their description, the person you are searching for will see their own name on this board and investigate. That's when they will see your message and respond.

If you have a web page, then provide a link to Peace Corps Online Home Page at http://PeaceCorpsOnline.org and another link to the lost Volunteer Web Page at http://PeaceCorpsOnline.org/messages/messages/2629/1009546.html

The more links to these two pages, the higher they are going to score in Google Searches and the more likely that the lost volunteer is going to see your message when he looks for his own name.

Here is an example of someone who found a lost volunteer because they were looking for their name in Google.

One other hint: If you leave your email address don't leave it in the format: joe.smith@hotmail.com

Rewrite it as: joe DOT smith AT hotmail DOT com

That way you will avoid it being picked up by spiders and added to spam lists.
