Does anyone know a reference to the "Magic Meter" concept in subsistence agriculture?

In the 70's, I spent a number of years in several Southeast Asian countries working on silviculture and the resettlement issues.

While in the Philippines in 1978, I saw one paperback manual on the subject in the possession of a PC acquaintence, but have not seen it since.

I still have friends in Viet Nam and the Philippines for whom I am researching this question.

My wife and I have not been back to Asia recently, but, circa 1997, had the pleasure of bringing a duffle bag of "back home" goodies (marshmellows, Hersey's chocolate, books, and the like) as a donation to the the Bangkok PC office. I hope we can make another such "goody run" again soon.

If you do have a reference, please respond to me at:

Sincerely,
