In March 2005 I visited Panama for 3 weeks. It was my 3rd time back since I left in 1969, but this time after a hiatus of 30 years! It was a very rewarding and exciting experience. It is on top of my list of places to retire.
My Panamanian hosts were wonderful. We have communicated since I left Panama (Group 14) and have planned my visit for a long time. The country has changed considerably: new highways, 50-story condominiums line the Bay of Panama, shopping malls, new housing developments, and over 100 banks! However, the people are the same: very friendly and happy. And they are running the canal very efficiently. |
