Hi,
I am in the process of applying to the peace corp. I have been looking forward to serving as a volunteer member for several years now. Recently, however, I have come across reports of increased levels of rape while serving, as well as theft and other physical assaults.

I am posting here hoping to gain some insight on what the returned volunteers think.

1. Did you feel safe while you served abroad? 2.Where did you serve?
3. Were you accepted into the community?
4. Did you have a strong network of support-either with the local community or volunteers in the area?

Any other thoughts shared on safety issues and all other issues would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time. Please feel free to contact me at rtakamin@willamette.edu
