The PCMO is apparently no longer hiring American medical providers for in country volunteer care. A young friend currently serving has had substandard care from the local hire. Also, see IG reports about problems with PCMOs in Burkina and Lesotho and possibly some others. No controls over medical supplies is a particular concern as well as dispensing meds in a baggie with no label as to what the med is or how it is to be taken. If these conditions exist in even a few countries, then PC needs to remedy this asap. I had excellent care from American doctors in both countries where I served years ago. Volunteers deserve to have proper medical care during their service. I'd be interested in learning if others have had any difficulties in the care they've received in country. Thank you.
