My son is leaving for a trek in Nepal on October 9 for a month with Alpine Ascents International. They have told him that the trek is a distance form the uprising and that he should not be concerned.

Its citizens feared the rebels were closing in and many are not surprised at the blockade they have imposed around the capital.

The last volunteers of the US Peace Corps have left Nepal after their organisation suspended its operations there because of safety concerns

Given the current situations what advise can you provide in regard to American's safety.

thanks for any advise you can provide
