Were you a sociology major in college? Did you graduate within the past 7 years? I work for McGraw-Hill Higher Education, where we are currently preparing a new edition of a sociology textbook. For the newest edition of this well-known introductory text, we are looking for people like you. One of the most interesting features of this text has been its “Taking Sociology to Work” sections, in which sociology majors talk about how their background and training in sociology has aided them in their current careers outside academia. What these boxes show is that a sociology degree provides knowledge, training, and experience that is useful in many different lines of work. If you are interested we would ask you to answer a short list of questions and that the text’s author would write up the actual section if it’s chosen. I can send you some recent examples of our “Taking Sociology to Work” boxes so that you can see the end result of this effort. All submissions for this feature will be reviewed personally by the author, who will ascertain their fit with the needs of the text. In exchange for taking part in this project, all participants whose submissions are published will receive a free copy of the text featuring their profile. Please email/contact at the address below as soon as possible if you are interested in taking advantage of this exciting opportunity to tell us a bit about yourself and possibly be featured in the latest edition of Sociology. Also please let me know where/when you graduated from college and where you volunteered in the peace corps. Thank you!
