I'm about to start a degree in biology and a minor in spanish. I'm hoping to join the PC after I graduate to teach science. I was wondering about a few things... First of all, when I mentioned this to my friends and family, almost all of them told me it was really dangerous and that a lot of people get murdered or injured while on duty. I tried doing research on this and only came up with the statistic that about 235 people have died in the PC, that's out of 187000 volunteers which is like 1%. and it states that most of these deaths weren't from assaults but actually from vehicle accidents. Are there any statistics on rape or other kinds of violence I should be aware of? secondly, I read on the website that about 3 months of experience in teachinig is required? what if I want to get my degree and go right into the peace corps? I don't know whether or not i plan to do student teaching in college, so can I join with just a bachelors degree before getting anykind of other job. Any insight on this would be appreciated! |
