Good morning all!

My name is Kathleen Doyle and I am a senior studying international affairs at The George Washington University. I am writing on this board to ask if any of you, while overseas, practiced yoga with your community?

I am currently finishing my senior thesis proposing that yoga be considered an alternative therapy to address the critical mental health needs in the developing world and could play an important, if overlooked, role in development. Over the years I have come across several anecdotal accounts of Peace Corps volunteers who practiced yoga within their communities and am curious to see:

1) how common this is?
2) with what intention did you practice?
3) what were the reactions of the community?
4) did you observe any effects of the practice on individuals and/or the community?

Any and all responses to these questions would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me at kedoyle@gwu.edu with thoughts/opinions.

Have a lovely day and thank you for your time!

Best,
Kathleen
