Hi all,
I'm trying to find others who have returned from Peace Corps and joined the Army. How did having Peace Corps on your record affect you? Any security clearance issues? Any trouble getting into certain Military Occupational Specialties?
Also, for anybody considering joining the military after Peace Corps, please feel free to contact me. I spent quite awhile researching before I joined, and would love to share what I found.

I was a PCV between 1975 and 1977 and recently worked at Vandenberg AFB for a year which required security clearance. The PC service was not any impediment although it was the butt of a few jokes. When I hired someone new, my boss's boss asked if the new employee might have security clearance problems. "Don't worrry," I told him. "He never served in the Perace Corps." we both laughed. |
