Director Vasquez to meet with more RPCVs

The Peace Corps Press Office informed PCOL today that Director Vasquez is continuing to meet with local RPCVs and RPCV leadership. He has previously met with RPCVs in Los Angeles at the LA Public Library on April 19 as reported in this previous story from PCOL. He also met with RPCV leadership in San Francisco on April 23 as we reported in this story on PCOL.

Next on his schedule will be meetings with RPCVs in Boston, Chicago, and possibly Denver.

Director Vasquez will be in Boston the third week in May and meet with RPCV leaders. It was originally hoped that the Director would be able to attend the semi-annual "welcome back" to volunteers who have recently completed their service and "send off" those who are about to embark on their adventure which will be held on May 17. Unfortunately scheduling conflicts made his appearance at that event impossible. The event, organized by the Boston Returned Volunteers and by the Boston Regional Peace Corps Recruiting office will still be held at the First and Second Unitarian Church at Arlington St. and Marlboro from 7 pm to 10 pm. Instead the Director will be meeting a few days later with members of the leadership of the Boston Returned Volunteers Group.

The Director will be in Denver on May 23 to visit the Peace Corps Field Office there. His original plans were to meet with RPCVs but because of time constraints it now does not appear likely that he will have enough time to meet with RPCVs.

The Director is scheduled by be keynote speaker at the Chicago Area Peace Corps Association's 14th Annual Founder's Day Dinner on Saturday, June 1st, 2002. The dinner will be held at Mareva's at 1250 N. Milwaukee Ave. RPCVs are encouraged to RSVP by May 27 to Kara Malenfant, 4607 N. Claremont, Chicago, IL 60625.
