Report: Dodd won't run for president

(Hartford-AP Jan. 31, 2003 1:00 PM)_ According to a published report, Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd will soon take himself out of the running for the presidency.

The Journal Inquire newspaper of Manchester cites sources as saying that Dodd will make the announcement in the next few days.

That would put an end to any direct competition between Dodd and the other Connecticut Senator, Joe Lieberman, who officially announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination last month.

Dodd is a four-term senator was first elected in 1980 and served for a time as the Democratic National Committee chairman.
