The president showed interest in the Peace Corps aid program targeted at underprivileged children in Bulgaria. He said that the work of the U.S. volunteers in the country could be seen as part of Sofia's strategic partnership with the United States. President Parvanov also highlighted the importance of the 100th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries that, in his words, should give a push to the bilateral cooperation in all fields. He added that Bulgaria's economy now needs more attention from U.S. business.
