Read and comment on this email message from NPCA Elections Committee member Pete Johnson on the upcoming elections to the Board of Directors of the NPCA. Nomination packets are available on the NPCA website at http://www.rpcv.org and then under the Affiliate Groups section and "NPCA Board Nominations are Open". Nominations are open until April 15. NPCA Nominations and Elections Committee

Nominations Are Being Accepted Thru April 15, 2003 for NPCA Board Elections

The annual elections to the NPCA Board are coming soon and nominations are now open. The seven geographic regions that will have openings are:

Metro DC/Nationwide - RPCV/W and the 3 nationwide groups

Southeast - AL, FL, GA, MS, SC, Pto. Rico

Heartland - IA, KS, MN, MO, ND, NE, SD

Northwest - AK, ID, MT, OR, WA

Mid-Atlantic (2 years) - DE, MD, NC, VA

South Central (2 years) - AR, LA, OK, TX - excl. W. Texas

Great Lakes (1 year) - IL, IN, MI, WI

The two Country of Service regions are:

North/East Africa

Groups in region- Burundi/Rwanda, Ethiopia/Eritrea, Kenya, Morocco, Somalia,

Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda

Central/Southern Africa

Groups in region - Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, Swaziland,

Zimbabwe

The schedule of nominations and voting is set in the NPCA bylaws based on the next Annual General Meeting/Presidents Forum which will be held August 1-3 in Portland, OR. The key dates are:

Feb 15 - April 15: nominations open

May 1: ballots mailed

June 15: ballots due to NPCA

August 1-3: board meeting

Nominees must live in the region represented, have served in the country region represented or be a member of an affiliate in that region. The terms are for 3 years with a limit of 7 years on the board; there are 2 board meetings per year. The new board term begins at the August 1-3 Board meeting. There are 3 openings for less than the 3 years due to resignations

One seat on the NPCA board is reserved for the Presidents Forum Coordinator. This position is filled at the Presidents Forum and is a two year term. It will be open for nominations and election at the meeting in Portland, OR. Interested candidates should contact Pete Johnson at mailto:peteRPCV@aol.com.

Nomination packets are available on the NPCA website at http://www.rpcv.org and then under the Affiliate Groups section and "NPCA Board Nominations are Open". If you cannot access the PDF file, contact Yetta Lyle, NPCA Business Manager, at mailto:business@rpcv.org or 202-293-7728 x20 for a paper copy. Groups who wish to nominate candidates must complete all the paperwork (nomination form and nominee profile) and have it signed by the president or secretary of the group and returned to NPCA by April 15. Another method of nomination is by petition signed by 10 paid members of NPCA (also must be accompanied by a nominee profile).
