Threespot Media Answers the Call to Overhaul the Peace Corps Web Site

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Peace Corps Director Gaddi Vasquez announced today that Peace Corps has launched a redesigned Web site at (www.peacecorps.gov). The new site -- designed by Washington, D.C.-based Threespot Media -- is the latest part of a multi-year effort to ensure Peace Corps' online presence meets the growing expectations and needs of the next generation of Peace Corps applicants and volunteers.

Developed in part to extend Peace Corps' new national campaign -- "Life Is Calling. How Far Will You Go?" -- the site incorporates a number of technologies and features to increase application acquisition, better serve the diverse Peace Corps audience, and educate Americans about Peace Corps' goals and accomplishments.

"The new Peace Corps site was designed with a strong focus on providing the right information to a wide variety of visitors, each with a different set of information needs," said David Belman, a founding partner of Threespot. "With the new site, prospective applicants, current applicants, former Peace Corps volunteers, educators, students, donors, and members of the media, among other groups, can all find precisely what they're looking for quickly and easily."

Highlights of the redesigned Web site include:

* "What's It Like to Volunteer?" -- a collection of videos, interviews, stories, and photo galleries that describe the volunteer experience in the words of the people who know it best: the volunteers;

* A refined focus on applicant acquisition, as well as expanded content to support applicant retention; and

* A newly-developed online training module to help applicants prepare themselves for Peace Corps service.

Since first launching in 1995, the Peace Corps Web site has become an indispensable business tool. Today, 70 percent of the organization's applications are submitted online. Thousands of additional applicants use the site to educate themselves about opportunities for service and to locate recruiting events.

In 2002, Threespot Media was honored to be nominated for a Webby award in the category of Best Practices for its work on the previous Peace Corps site.

"It is Threespot's goal to continue to provide Peace Corps -- and all of our clients -- with award-winning service," said David Belman. "We are honored to be continuing our relationship with this increasingly important organization."
