Amanda Host joins president's administration
Amanda Host, daughter of retired Leon County Commissioner Bruce Host, has been appointed to the Bush administration in Washington, serving as special assistant to Peace Corps Director Gaddi H. Vasquez.
Host, whose first day was May 13, will coordinate meetings and keep Vasquez's schedule. She previously was senior manager for external affairs at the International Republican Institute, where she managed events and private fund raising.
Host, 28, moved from Tallahassee to Washington four years ago. She was a Tallahassee City Commission candidate in 1998 and society columnist for the Tallahassee Democrat in 1997. - James L. Rosica
