In 1976, Kevin O'Donnell was elected President. He had originally been with the company as Sales Manager from 1947 to 1960. Before returning to SIFCO in 1972, he served as Head of the Peace Corps. During his tenure of office with SIFCO, facilities in Tampa and Ireland came on line. His commitment to many local civic groups enhanced the company's reputation and projected the image of SIFCO as a company dedicated to the betterment of the communities in which it operates.
In 1990, Jeffrey P. Gotschall, grandson of Charles Henry Smith, Sr., assumed the post of President & CEO of the company. A Registered Professional Engineer, Mr. Gotschall earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration in 1973 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971 from the University of Michigan. Under his guidance, the company has undergone a significant transformation into a global, world renowned player in the aerospace industry, with the company serving over 90% of the world's airlines in the production, repair, coating, machining and marketing of jet engine and aerospace components.
