The National Peace Corps Association strongly urges you to call or fax
TODAY Speaker Dennis Hastert, urging that he withdraw the Bill from the House
Schedule, because the bill IS controversial.

Fax: 202-225-0697;

Phone: 202-225-2976

Please do not email Speaker Hastert.

A phone call or fax is more effective.

There is an operator standing by who will take your call.

Just tell her you are calling about the House vote tomorrow on Bill S-360 to name the Peace Corps Building after Coverdell and tell her your opinion.

Representative Dennis Hastert:

Please withdraw Bill S-360 to rename the Peace Corps Headquarters after Paul Coverdell from the Legislative agenda.

Attaching Coverdell's name to the Peace Corps building is inappropriate.

Thank you for listening to a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Belize 1986-88) and withdrawing Bill S-360.

Senator Hastert,

We write to express our concern and outrage with the overall Republican agenda and approach. As direct descendants of the Mayflower pilgrims, I am ashamed of what the Republican party has made of my country in the past three years. The shameful history of greed, corruption, return to slavery days (see D. Nichols, T. Lott, G. Bush other other Republicans direct descendence from slave owning families), drug- and gambling-addiction, and the general anti-American tactics used by the GOP are reducing the stature of the United States in the world today. Is this not a sad situation?

I am not a Republican at all. In Fact, Paul Coverdell ultimately fired me from Peace Corps service as the director. I agree with the sentiments above and have been helping a candidate for the democratic nomination.

However, we have a two party system in this country and I don't like the fact both the USAID building is named for Ronald Reagan and the Coverdell after Peace Corps. They were humans and served the public in their own way. Not everything Paul Coverdell was bad for Peace Corps and the same goes for Ronald Reagan.

However, I don't want them to bitch when we modify it a bit in the future when we have a President and the Congress behind us.

If I were to rename the Peace Corps Building, I would leave his name for his contribution and know the will of the people at that time and place has a place in american life. However, I would rename it the Coverdell/Tsongas building. Paul was a volunteer, Senator and a candidate for President (the only volunteer who has been).

THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY DEMAND OUR GOVERNMENT ENFORCE OUR LAWS. NO PERSON WHO HAS SNUCK OVER OUR BORDER, BOUGHT PHONY DOCUMENTATION ("FRAUD" - A MAJOR FELONY),STOLEN OUR SOCIAL SERVICES THAT AMERICANS HAVE WORKED FOR, HELPED TO BANKRUPT OUR HOSPITALS AND OVERWHELMED OUR SCHOOLS SHOULD BE REWARDED IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. ENFORCE EMPLOYER SANCTIONS AND WITHOUT A JOB, THEY WILL GO HOME. THE AMERICAN DREAM IS NOT FOR LAWBREAKERS AND NOT TO BE STOLEN. INSTEAD IT IS TO BE EARNED BY PEOPLE WHO RESPECT AMERICA BY RESPECTING HER LAWS. IT IS EARNED BY COMING THE RIGHT WAY AND WAITING YOUR TURN - NOT BY SPITTING ON OUR LAWS AND THEN ARROGANTLY DEMANDING THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENS! WHAT A NERVE. AND NO WE DON'T WANT AZTLAN HERE. AND WE DON'T WANT A NORTH AMERICAN UNION WITH MEXICO. AND WE DON'T WANT A ONE WORLD ORDER. WE WANT OUR NATION, JUST AS BEAUTIFUL AS SHE IS WITH THAT WONDERFUL PIECE OF PAPER CALLED HTE "CONSTITUTION" AND NO, DUBYA, IT IS NOT A GODDAMNED PIECE OF PAPER!

While we are all sitting around waiting for this so called comprehensive Immigration laws (with complete disregard for our present laws) Can you possibly explain to the general public why we cannot seem to deport, for the second time. One person ( a Felon) hiding behind a church pulpit in Chicago. If this country cannot deport her, just who is left that we can deport.

There is no human right to enter our country illegally! To demand right's is a disgrace to legal immigrants and everything this nation is supposed to stand for. We are deporting people who originally came into this country with documents, but forgot to leave when there time was up. We deport them because they are easy to find. The illegal's have no need for deportation proceedings. Fine there employer's and landlords they will leave when the free ride is over. If they cannot treat the people (citizens)of this country with respect for another human being,i see no reason for them to demand the same.

We owe them nothing as illegal's,we owe them a world of hope & dreams as legal documented immigrants. Giving them a fine and staying in country to work towards citizenship is a joke. How to you expect them to pay anything, and a bigger joke is which Government branch will enforce this. The only fair and i might add moral way is to enforce the existing laws. I say moral because this is a whole nation we are addressing, not someone's personal political agenda.
Right now this country is working towards nothing but anarchy. You as a senator, intrusted with a lot of power by the people of this country. Need to get it done.

AS A 72 YEAR OLD, I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL A FEW TIMES.

THE PROBLEM THAT IS BECOMING EVERMORE EVIDENT IS THE FOREIGN BORN NURSES, AND PHYSICIANS, THAT ARE EMPLOYED HERE IN THE U.S.

A LARGE NUMBER OF THESE NURSES DO NOT CLEARLY UNDERSTAND ENGLISH, CANNOT READ OR WRITE ENGLISH THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE, AND THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH THE PHYSICIANS IS VERY DIFFICULT. THIS CAN ONLY LEAD TO MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND LACK OF COMPETENT MEDICAL CARE.

A FEW YEARS AGO, MY FATHER WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH A CARDIAC PROBLEM. A NURSE FROM THE PHILLIPINES MISUNDERSTOOD THE PHYSICIAN'S ORDERS AND GAVE MY FATHER THE WRONG DOSE OF A VERY DANGEROUS MEDICATION. HE NEARLY DIED.

WITH THE PHYSICIANS FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES AND NURSES FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DOCTOR, NURSE, FAMILY MEMBERS, AND PATIENTS IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE.

PLEASE, LET US FEEL WE ARE IN COMPETENT HANDS WHEN ARE LIVES ARE ON THE LINE.
