Peace Corps News Alert:

Surprise House Vote Tuesday to Rename Peace Corps HQ

The House leadership has decided to bring Bill S-360
to the floor Tuesday, July 17, to rename
PEACE CORPS HEADQUARTERS after
the late Sen. Paul Coverdell.

They are making this move under a suspension of the
rules as a non-controversial bill. If this happens,
the bill will pass automatically.

THIS IS A CONTROVERSIAL BILL.

This bill has been discussed in the Peace Corps
Community for the past year and most
volunteers are against the renaming.

Numerous Returned Volunteer groups including the
NPCA have taken the position that the Peace Corps
headquarters should NOT be named after any single
Director.
