Attached is the email sent out by the NPCA advocacy list reiterating the NPCA's official position of neutrality on the Gaddi Vasquez nomination for Peace Corps Director and encouraging returned volunteers to contact their elected representatives to express their views:

Please see the NPCA website for the NPCA position on the Nominee for Peace Corps Director, Gaddi Vasquez, at

http://www.rpcv.org/pages/sitepage.cfm?id=118

On September 12, the NPCA President and a member representing the NPCA Board met with the Nominee and expressed NPCA concerns.

At its September 21 meeting, the NPCA Presidents' Forum, representing affiliated groups, met and considered a resolution by the Presidents' Forum to oppose the nomination and to ask the Senate to reject the candidacy of Gaddi Vasquez. After extensive debate, The Forum voted: 7 for opposing the nominee, and 35 against opposing or abstaining. The Presidents' Forum affirmed the position already taken by the NPCA, that the NPCA would not oppose, but would encourage individual members and affiliated groups to express their own views.

NPCA urges that you contact your elected representatives, as well as key members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, with your own views.
