Dr. Curt Holder
Curt is a new member of the faculty in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies. He teaches courses in physical geography, including meteorology, hydrology, climatology and human-environmental relationships. Curt served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala from 1988-1990. While in the Peace Corps, Curt worked on reforestation, soil conservation, and watershed management projects. Curt received his Ph. D. in geography from Clark University. His research discusses the relationships between fog precipitation and stream discharge in a Guatemalan tropical montane cloud forest. Curt works closely with environmental non-government organizations in Guatemala and the United States in order to find ways to increase village water supply using knowledge of canopy fog interception and cloud forest hydrology while protecting cloud forests. Curt offers a field course to Guatemala for undergraduate students interested in exploring the diversity of the country.
