History/Background

Who We Are, Where We've Been

On this page we'll provide some history about our organization or our cause. For example, here's what we might say if our web site is about saving our favorite building from the wrecking ball.

Historic building; Actual size=240 pixels wide

Did you know our building was the birthplace of a famous United States Senator? Constructed in 1896, this beautiful structure originally belonged to the Senator's family, and it was here in 1903 that the famous Senator was born.

Unplugged and Unsanctioned!!

Welcome to our casutsa!

Welcome to the new site! Hey, don't forget to scrape the mud off your boots before you come in. And close that door! The draft will kill you, you know. So pull up a chair, I'll get the vin de casa and let's get ready to oaspetsi.

So here's the spiel...

This is the erstwhile home of ALL Moldova RPCV's (and current PCV's as well, but hey, I'm not gonna twist their arms). Since creating an officially sanctioned RPCV chapter for Moldova was such a royal pain in the rear, this site was initiated to provide an outlet for all that bores non-volunteers to distraction. Feel free to e-mail comments, ideas and/or realistic threats of punitive action to moldrpcv@yahoo.com should the mood strike.

We just received this sad news about an M7:

Robert Brown, son of Bridget Brown, campus minister at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, died Saturday, February 1, 2003, in a car accident in Maryville. Robert was a young man who had served in the Peace Corps in Moldova in Eastern Europe and had recently returned to the Maryville area. Visitation will be at 6:00pm, Tuesday, February 4, with a prayer service and sharing of memories at 7:00pm. The funeral Mass will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 5. All services will be at St. Gregory's in Maryville.

Tired of waiting for the next installment of "From the Desk of Mr. Ocnitsa?" Want to hear what happened in his travels with Mr. Logan? Short of hearing it directly from the botul calului, there are always the old standbys - conjecture and rumor. If you have a good (or bad, risque and/or very amusing) tale of Mr. Ocnitsa's travels after COS, jot it down on the barroom napkin in front of you and send it to us at moldrpcv@yahoo.com. Just think of it as being cheaper than psychotherapy.

Did you buy compact discs, cassettes and/or vinyl albums from one or more retailers between January 1, 1995, through December 22, 2000? If so, you could be looking at some money coming your way. Alright, it's not a lot of money - $5 to $20 - but it's better than nothing (and if you don't claim it, the weasel record companies get to keep it!). So jet on over to http://www.musiccdsettlement.com/english/default.htm and claim your share.

Shelly Fisher and Keith Kadlec = BELIZE!

Sam Zengotitabengoa popped the question!
