Peace Corps volunteers save 80% of international long distance phone call expense by using
international callback service to call family and friend in USA but enjoying US telecom
technology and connection. Visit BestCallback's website at http://bestcallback.net
and find the rate to call US from Albania is only 26.9¢. When you go to BestCallback, look
for the "Peace Corps Service" section to see some sample rates and then dig for the program
features and benefits.

Greetings Albania RPCVs: I am the PTO in Albania and am trying to get in touch with an Albania RPCV I met when I first got here -- Kevin McLaughlin. I've gotten word from one of our current Volunteers that a friend of his from Lezhe would like to invite him to his wedding. If anyone is in contact with Kevin, please forward him this message and have him contact me at cwronagiallongo@al.peacecorps.gov. Thanks.

There's a much cheaper way of calling the US from Albania. That is done through a computer with Internet connection, microphone and speakers. A relatively modern laptop offers the required hardware for the call to be made. Then the person calling the US or indeed elsewhere would need to download Skype in order to make phone calls, www.skype.com
Call prices are about $0.02 per minute with any US phone, Mobile or Landline/Fixedline. Landline calls to Europe, Canada, Australia are also $0.02 per minute.
0800 numbers all around the World are free to call.
This information is available as of 16 Jan 2008.
As with regard to myself I do NOT work or benefit from Skype or any other organisation. I just wanted to share with you this knowledge and experience so that you have a lovely time in my country (Albania) and thank you for your help in all ways!

Any RPCVs interested in a short-term volunteer opportunity in Jordan? The America's Unofficial Ambassadors (AUA) program at Creative Learning is dedicated to expanding and supporting private American citizens' service in the Muslim World. From January 6-15 2012, AUA will lead a group of volunteers to Jordan to support local community development initiatives, learn about Jordanian culture, and meet face-to-face with Jordanian families and university students. Volunteers will spend 4 days working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for poor families in the north of the country. They will also engage in discussion with civil society groups in Amman and Irbid to learn more about Jordanian culture, share insight into American culture, and discuss challenges common to both societies. The Building Peace by Building Homes trip to Jordan will end with visits to Petra (one of the modern 7 Wonders of the World) and the Dead Sea.

The trip is the first in a series of three Building Peace by Building Homes trips that CL will lead in 2012 [Additional trips to Tajikistan (May) and Indonesia (July) are still being planned]. For more information visit: http://unofficialambassadors.com/get-involved/buil ding-peace-by-building-homes/, or contact AUA trip leader, Andrew Stinson, at AndrewS@creativelearning.org.
