I am Gaylord Townley, owner and operator of the 30ft. Custom Palm Beach Diesel, "Lone Star". I've been living and fishing year-round in Tamarindo for 20 years. I am a former Peace Corps Volunteer who came to Costa Rica and liked it so much I decided to stay. My wife Valerie, also a former volunteer runs Casa Doble Bed and Breakfast. We have two daughters, Rachel and Kyle, both born and raised here.

I became a fishing captain out of love and respect for the ocean. There is no place I'd rather be. I'm a strict conservationist. Ninety percent of the fish we catch are released unharmed. A few are kept for dinner.

I brake for dolphins, whales and turtles.

I enjoy sharing with clients the incredible wonders and excitement of the Sea.

About Tamarindo

Tamarindo Beach itself is one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in all of Costa Rica. It offers a wide variety of activities which include: nature tours, diving, surfing, sailing, horseback riding, canopy tour and more. You can find a diverse selection of accommodations and restaurants from modest to five star, from beachfront to ocean view. There are supermarkets, gift shops, internet cafés, live music and even a casino.

Where is Tamarindo

Located on the northwest coast of Costa Rica in the Guanacaste Province, Tamarindo is one of the country's most frequented beach destinations. It's about a five hour drive from the capital, San Jose, or a one hour flight on SANSA or Travel Air, the two national airline companies. Most people arrive either by rental car, air conditioned mini bus or plane. There are several flights a day and many options for rental cars and busses.

Where to stay

Casa Doble is a quiet, charming and fisherman friendly B&B on the beach. An early breakfast and a five minute walk will get you to the boat for the day's fishing. When you return, watch the sunset from the porch or the pool, sipping a cold drink overlooking the Pacific Ocean. My wife, Valerie, will be your host. She'll do her best to make your vacation an unforgettable experience.
