After attending a friend's wedding in Salem, Julie Reimer decided to drop by Boots HQ. Originally from Washington state, near the Canadian border, Julie has spent several years overseas with the Peace Corps and her studies.
With the Peace Corps, Julie spent two years in Ventspils, Latvia, followed by another year in Riga, the capital. After adjusting to a new lifestyle in the first year, she picked up some of the language and really enjoyed her time there, even if she had to move house about 15 times. During her time in Latvia, Julie also travelled to Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Stockholm, Helsinki, Turkey, the Netherlands, Croatia and Slovenia.

Julie spent another two years in San German, Puerto Rico, completing her masters degree and teaching English. She said she won't miss the heat and humidity, or the beer and the men.
While Julie was in Eugene, we spent a lazy Sunday wandering around the University of Oregon campus, reading and chatting. We interrupted this busy day to take part in a photo shoot at the Oval Door B&B. It doesn't sound like hard work, but you try and sit perfectly motionless and still "act natural".
After whipping up a great dinner Sunday night, Julie decided to skip the night bus to Seattle and catch the first one out in the morning. Eugene wasn't about to let her go that easily though: the first bus was sold out, so she had to wait another two hours for the next one.
"Isn't that Julie's bus?"
Through a State Department fellowship, Bulgaria is the next stop for Julie. She leaves mid-September, and she'll be teaching English Composition at the university in Veliko Turnovo. The contract lasts for about a year – and hopefully we twisted Julie's arm enough for her to send us an article or two from there.
