Athens County Habitat for Humanity has named Ann Charles Watts its new executive director. Watts will replace Dudley Mullins, who retired after more than 3 years with Athens County Habitat for Humanity.
Watts was formerly a municipal services development agent with the United States Peace Corps in San Juan Nepomuceno, Paraguay, for two years. In this capacity, she founded the city's first public library, reorganized its property tax collection system, and created leadership seminars for local organizations.
"I have seen Habitat for Humanity's work in the United States and around the world," Watts said. "It's an honor to be a part of this organization. I look forward to meeting the dedicated volunteers and partner families who build these houses and make Athens County a better place to call home."
Watts received her bachelor's degree in political science and master's degree in comparative politics from Ohio University. She has more than five years experience in communications and development. She previously served as communications director for the Ohio Democratic Party in Columbus, Ohio, and campaign manager for Charlotte Coleman Eufinger's successful race for judge in Union County, Ohio.
Athens County Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical, nonprofit organization that works with selected families to build safe and affordable homes and is one of more than 2,000 affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International.
The Athens County Habitat for Humanity, which was formed in 1990, has built fifteen homes in the county and includes four coalitions: Ohio University; Athens Women Raise the Roof, which consists of 120 active women; the Athens Georgia Area Faith Build Coalition; and Nelsonville-York.
