Judy Bruce-Mangle also served in the Peace Corps in Liberia

Judy Bruce-Mangle is our new Director of Religious Education. She came to SUUS with 15 years experience as D.R.E. at the Unitarian Society of New Haven. She is married to Harry Mangle of the Unitarian Universalist Society East in Manchester, Connecticut. She is the mother of three adult children, ages 25, 23, and 21. Her education includes a BA in History with minors in political science and education. She is currently finishing an MS in history and recertification in secondary school teaching at Southern Connecticut State University. Judy was trained by the US Peace Corps in elementary education teaching. She is a graduate of the UUA RE Renaissance Program and has attended numerous training opportunities during her tenure as D.R.E. in New Haven. Her prior work experience includes home childcare provider and teaching assistant the Center Church Cooperative Nursery School. She was a teacher of secondary school social studies at the American Cooperative School, Monrovia, Liberia. Judy also served in the Peace Corps in Liberia, West Africa, as a Volunteer Trainer for two new groups of volunteers. She was also a teacher trainer for the Teacher in Service Education Program. Prior to that she taught social studies at Amity Regional School District.
