HIP Housing selects new executive director

Helen Fisicaro, board president of HIP Housing (the Human Investment Project), announced that Bruce Hamilton has been selected as the organization's new executive director. Hamilton will succeed Judy Gaither, who spent 19 years in various leadership roles with HIP Housing and was its executive director for the past eight years.

Hamilton's public service career combines administration, law and politics. He attended the University of Nebraska where he completed his undergraduate work before entering the College of Law and graduating with distinction.

Hamilton has served as a Peace Corps volunteer, worked as a public defender in Washington, D.C. and as executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Lincoln, Neb., the Arizona State Bar and as an elected member of the Lancaster County, Neb., board of supervisors. For the past four years, Hamilton has been the executive director of the Alliance on Aging of Monterey County, a nonprofit utilizing diverse programs to help seniors remain independent.

"Bruce Hamilton was the successful candidate based on his multiple years of experience in the nonprofit sector and his ability to effectively communicate with community leaders," Fisicaro said.
