Miller Park Finance Manager James Gultry receives Peace Corps honor

MILWAUKEE, WI - Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District Finance Manager James Gultry has been selected by the Peace Corps for its Franklin H. Williams award for 2000.
Gultry, who served in the Peace Corps from 1990 to 1993 in Equatorial Guinea, received his award at a ceremony at the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C. on February 24.
Gultry has been Finance Manager for the Baseball Park District on the Miller Park construction project since 1997. His duties include supervising all aspects of financial management for construction of the new ballpark for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Gultry received a Masters of Public Administration degree from the La Follette Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995 and a Bachelors of Arts, History/Public Relations Degree from Marquette University in 1990. He has participated in the International Career Advancement Program and Advanced Government Finance Institute.
In the community, Gultry serves on the Board of Directors of the Ko Thi African Dance Company, Walker’s Point Development Corporation, and Milwaukee Charter School Committee. He is a member of numerous other organizations and committees.
“We are hopeful that this ceremony will assist in the promotion of the Peace Corps within minority communities, and will highlight the many benefits of Peace Corps volunteer service,” said Anthony L. Pinder, Peace Corps Director of Minority and National Recruitment Initiatives. The award is named in honor of civil rights attorney Franklin H. Williams, who played a critical role in the founding of the Peace Corps in the early 1960s. Williams led a distinguished career as an attorney, diplomat, NAACP director, and as Assistant Attorney General of California.
