Hello everybody. I think a tad bit of backstory is necessary, so please bare with me. I'm a 20 year old college student who is having problems focusing in school, mostly because I feel like I'm jumping through a societal "hoop" instead of doing something I want to do. I'm a marketing/advertising major, who has actually been offered employment at two separate companies just from samples they have seen of my school work, but I am rapidly realizing that a corporate ladder is not something I wish to spend my life climbing. I'm looking to take some time off of school and volunteer outside of the United States. I'm hoping it will help give me a sense of accomplishment, and possibly give me an idea of what I really want to do with my life. I've completed two years of college classes, however I don't have an AA yet because I changed my course of study after the first year. Basically, I don't think i'll qualify for peace corps, and 27 months is a bit longer than I'd like to take off. I'm afraid if I'm gone for that long I'll have difficulty going back to school. My other qualifications are 3 years of managerial experience in retail (I know, that's not much), and conversational spanish. I'm also extremely computer savvy, and seem to have a knack for teaching. I've done volunteer work before, but nothing like this. Are there any other organizations that anyone can recommend that would accept a person such as myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
