I'm an RPCV Guatemala 73. I have worked in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean as a professional development worker (MS nutrition, MPH international health, DBA management and leadership). I have been a PVO country director, assistant country director, regional expert, and programmer for decades. Recently, I returned to work for Peace Corps Washington.
In PC Headquarters, I found 76% of all Peace Corps projects have been incompletely designed. Over 70% of Volunteers are unhappy with counterpart relations. Most counterparts are unhappy with Volunteers. Over 30% of Volunteers drop out between recruitment and completion of service. And PC HQ eliminates anyone who wants to do something about it.
After I was eliminated, I have re-applied for overseas postings. Now, legal, Human Resources, and operations work together to subvert the law, fabricating how my experience and skills are less than that of 24 year olds with new MPHs. They govern, not by laws, but by whim. Has anyone else found this to be true?
