Tibet Collection: Sales Associate Job Description
Primary Position Description :
To effectively build sales in currently targeted markets, expand sales into new markets, and to service existing accounts. Sales are primarily done by telephone out of our office warehouse in coordination with other sales, customer service and administrative staff. The position also requires occasional work at trade shows in either New York, the Washington Metro area, San Francisco or other locations.

We are seeking an experienced person from the wholesale or retail industry that thrives on making sales and is committed to providing high standards of customer service.
Proactively and persistently contact existing customers to initiate new sales.
Develop a customer base in new, untapped market areas.
Reactivate sales with inactive customers.
Build relationships with all customers by educating them about our products, their quality, their relevance to the customers market, as well as our fair trade mission.
Promptly follow up calls and personal contacts by sending appropriate notes, materials and/or samples in a logical, organized and effective manner.
Provide reports on progress towards meeting sales goals.
Share customer feedback with appropriate staff.
Provide input and feedback on Tibet Collection products and marketing initiatives.
Participate in additional forms of customer outreach including focus groups, surveys, e-newsletters, special events, association meetings, trade shows, etc.
Learn and abide by internal fulfillment systems and procedures.
Treat colleagues as partners to promote a positive and friendly environment.
Act professionally with a positive win-win attitude for both associates and customers.
Ability to quickly learn and communicate about Tibet Collection products and the artisans, then match client needs with the appropriate artisan product and story.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with interest to negotiate sales.
Effective writing, organization and follow through with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
Able and willing to travel to attend trade shows several times a year.
Result driven with excellent phone skills, account management, sales prospecting, lead generation and customer support abilities.
Excellent sales presentation and closing skills, over the phone and in person.
Ability to project a positive corporate image and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Ability to quickly build a sound rapport with customers and staff.
Computer literacy and proficiency in use of MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
Capability to learn new skills and absorb new information quickly.
Accepting of feedback, constructive criticism and coaching.
Passion and committed to your work. Positive attitude a must.
Experience in sales and customer service in the wholesale/retail trade. Exposure to or experience in the following areas is a plus:
Trade shows (gift oriented shows preferable).
Natural products industry (gifts and sidelines vs. food).
Knowledge of fair trade business practices and ethics.
Four-year college degree, preferably with a major in business and/or marketing.
Trade show participation requires the ability to lift and carry light to moderately weighted items, climb a 3-foot ladder, and long days of standing.
We require a minimum of three professional references.

Pay & Benefits
This is a full time salaried position. Annual salary is based on experience. There are no sales commissions but promotion and bonus are given based on performance.
