Safe Passage (www.safepassage.org) is seeking an Executive Director with substantial experience in management of educational and human services for at-risk children. Safe Passage empowers the poorest, at-risk children of families working in the community of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education. Within a safe and caring environment, every child participates in an integrated program that fosters optimism, good health, educational achievement, self esteem, and confidence. Children and parents discover that, through their own efforts, they can move beyond poverty. Safe Passage is an innovative and successful non-profit organization providing a comprehensive program of educational reinforcement, vocational training, social work, and health care services for over 600 impoverished children, ages 2-18, and their families. The Executive Director needs effective administrative, team building, and fundraising skills to manage a growing organization of over 100 staff plus volunteers in Guatemala and a small US support office headquartered in Maine with total annual operating budget of $2 million. He/she needs to persuasively communicate the organization’s vision to staff, supporters and donors. Interested candidates should have a passionate commitment to serving disadvantaged children, have aptitude for cultural sensitivity, be bilingual in Spanish and English and possess a desire to reside in Guatemala with regular travel for fundraising. Preference will be given to resumes and cover letters submitted to transition@safepassage.org by April 13, 2007. See www.safepassage.org for more details. |
