SPONSORED BY THE FRIENDS OF TOGO, INC.

Togo-L is an electronic mail discussion list sponsored by the Friends of Togo, Inc. (FoT), a non-profit educational and service organization created in 1981. Togo-L is a means to communicate rapidly, frequently, and conveniently about Togo and about FoT via electronic mail ("e-mail"). As a subscriber to Togo-L, when you send an e-mail message to the Togo-L e-mail address, your e-mail message will be automatically re-sent to the e-mail addresses of all Togo-L subscribers. You will receive via e-mail all messages "posted" to the list by your fellow subscribers.

A wide variety of subjects are appropriate to be addressed in Togo-L messages. These include: FoT announcements and publications; searching for old friends; news reports about Togo; development projects; NGO activities; Peace Corps/Togo; FoT projects, scholarships, and flights; business and job opportunities; politics; human rights; Internet and computing in Togo; letters from Togo; and more.

It's easy to subscribe to Togo-L.

1. Just send an e-mail message to the following address:

listserv@listserv.AOL.com

2. Leave the "Subject" area blank, or if your e-mail software requires something in this area, put anything you like.

3. In the body of the message area, write:

SUBSCRIBE Togo-L your name

Insert your first and last names in place of "your name". DO NOT put your e-mail address here - it will be "captured" automatically by the "listserv" software.

4. You will be requested to confirm your subscription by replying to a confirmation request message with the simple message "ok" - (without quotation marks).

5. By return e-mail, you will receive two messages in acknowledgment of your subscription - one standard message and another from Togo-L, each with instructions on how to participate.

Let me add one comment to Kelley's announcement:

When using TOGO-L, don't forget the "digest" option, which will limit your TOGO-L messages to one digest of messages a day (as opposed to getting a whole bunch). To get Togo-L in digest form, send the message SET TOGO-L DIGEST in the body of your message (not the subject) to: listserv@listserv.AOL.com.
