Correction to Profile of Gaddi Vasquez: There are three RPCVs among Peace Corps' Top 24 appointees to Senior Staff positions

On September 16, in preparation for publishing the profile of Gaddi Vasquez from the Orange County Register, we called Ellen Field, Press Director at Peace Corps Headquarters, and asked her to confirm the statement in the story that there were three RPCVs among the top 24 members of Peace Corps Senior Staff.

We told Ms. Field that we only knew about two RPCVs on Senior Staff (Jody Olsen and Betsi Shays) and asked her who the third RPCV was among senior staff. She was unable to identify a third RPCV or confirm that there was a third RPCV on Peace Corps' Senior Staff. We asked her to contact us if it turned out there was a third RPCV on senior staff and and identify him or her. Here is the original story that we published:

On September 24 we received an email from Ellen Field saying that there is a third RPCV among Peace Corps Senior Staff and that she is Allene Zanger, Director of Domestic Programs, who served as an education volunteer in Panama 1993-95. Our apologies to Ms. Zanger for not having the information available to correctly identify her as the third RPCV on Peace Corps' Senior Staff. Read and comment on the email at:
