A website of a volunteer in Mozambique at:

Allyson's Great Adventure in Mozambique

This website is dedicatd to Allyson Lachowicz who is currently volunteering in the Peace Corps in Mozambique She is a graduate of the University of Maine with a Zoology degree Her ambition for the past 6 years or so has been to join the Peace Corps and go to Africa Well, guess where she is? Yup, in Africa The pricess of applying and getting accepted into the Peace Corps was arduous and drawn out But, she prevailed and stayed true to her dreams and was accepted in August 2002 Her duties will be to teach science in Portugese to 8th and 9th graders in Mozambique She has never spoken Portugese let alone taught science before It should be interesting to say the least Allyson flew to Philidelphia for a 2 day staging event on September 30th There she met up with the 36 other awesome Peace Corps volunteers from all over the country who will be stationed in Mozambique for the next 2+ yeas With bags packed, shots given, and phone calls home to send what was forgotten, they flew out of New York to Johannesburg South Africa on October 2nd There was an overnight stay and then on to Maputo Mozambique for their final destination They will have a 10 week intensive training period of Portugese language studies Imagine learning a new language in just 10 weeks At least all 37 volunteers will be in the same boat At the end of this period they will be told where in the country they will be stationed This webpage is devoted to Allyson's big adventure in Africa and her volunteering experiences As her phone calls, emails and letters arrive home, I will try to get them transcribed to this site for all those interested in hearing of her experiences and adventures. I will also include any photos as they come in.

This is Allyson's friend, Kelsie Daigle, I was her roommate in college and her fellow traveler across the country to Montana. I have written her a letter and need the address to send it to. Thank you very much.
