Lilac Mountain Lodge -- Lyulyak Hizha

A new Partnership Project in Straldja, Bulgaria

Throughout the mountains of Bulgaria there may be found mountain lodges (called "hizhas" in Bulgarian) which serve as refuges for hikers and lodging for vacationers.

Lilac Mountain Lodge is in the foothills of the Balkan Range just north of Straldja.

Children's camps are no longer possible here because of the lack of indoor toilets and showers.

A new Partnership Project by Rel Davis, Peace Corps volunteer in Straldja, would equip the Lodge with modern plumbing -- and make possible Youth Nature Camps at the site.

For more information or to make a contribution on line, check out the Peace Corps Partnership Program website.

Or e-mail Rel Davis.
