Turkey made a decision which was not in there own best interests. The new parliament was not seen as stable, alot like the US in the past. Turkey asked for more money to operate out of the NAto agreements. This was offered. The money was not enough. The US will probably close the base and move on. Turkey made a very large error by becoming greedy. The decision was made by a domocratic government, which will be replaced. In the long term interests of the US and NATO, Turkey no longer plays a role other than extortion and exploitation of Iraq and the Middle East. The US and NATO cannot be responsible for Turkey in the future, even after the government has been replaced.
