Yes, the victims of crimes and violence deserve justice, but the situations need to be looked at case by case and Peace Corps as a whole should not be condemned.
Peace Corps is a very large organization and over forty years of placing volunteers in some of the most needy countries if you look at the statistics and analyze them rationally you will see that Peace Corps has a very good track record of keeping volunteers safe. You could do the same kind of story about rapes and violence at large Universities and make a case that it is no place a parent would want to send their child.
Now, statistics and a good track record do not mean much to those who have been victims. I recognize that. It is important that their stories be told and to expose whatever was the cause, but things must be put into perspective. The lack of perspective and the convenient ignoring of facts that would weaken the thesis of these articles is the reason why there are many posts here calling these articles sensational.

There really was this Star Trek series where they said that statistics and a track recors really means notheing to those who have been victims.
Did you see the episode where the space ship that said 'Forget all Hope?' The human race was lost and that is what the met(to ignore).
