Positive times remembered
I am a returned Peace Corps volunteer. I cannot account for all the stories on the Dayton Daily News Web site, but I would like to suggest that at any place in the world, we may be victims. Whether it's in a small African vil- lage or on the streets of New York City, we all must be on our guard.
Second, with all the positive situations I experienced abroad, I find it disappointing to read about the negative events or issues stemming from the Peace Corps, based on the experiences of a few.
During the two years I lived in South Africa, I found myself in the safe hands of the people in my village, more times than not. Fellow volunteers had similar experiences and still recall the warm reception of our host families.
Such moments are what the Peace Corps is about, and I would like these to be recognized as well.
