No more dangerous than driving
As a former Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, I find the Dayton Daily News' stereotyping of the Peace Corps as dangerous to be a grave disservice to the newspaper, its readership, and ethical reporting.
Driving your car is dangerous.
Living in underdeveloped countries carries certain risks, but the Peace Corps I knew, and still know, has the safety of its volunteers at the heart of its policies and actions.
It is quite natural that there may have been human error by individual country programs and staff in the field, and at home in Washington, D.C., but to state that there is a programmatic problem is quite irresponsible.
The Dayton Daily News should try polling people who know Peace Corps volunteers and compare the percentage of seriously dangerous situations (caused by Peace Corps administrators) to the incidence of serious injury or death related to vehicle accidents.

Do you wear your seat belt?
If someone was in an accident in a car? Would you stop to help or drive way?
You are driving away on so many people who have been victimized by Peace Corp's arcane policies toward safety, attrition, health and helping volunteers who have gone through these things.
"I hear that sucking sound again". No and its not the car radiator after the accident, its and your response-ableness.
Thanks fo all the cheap stuff, we appreciate your help.
