DDN 's agenda Re `Peace Corps opens up to younger volunteers," Jan. 11: I am deeply disturbed that, even after numerous complaints that the Dayton Daily News series was one-sided, its articles continue to be biased and misleading. After reading this article, it was obvious that the DDN was willing to stretch the truth to fulfill its own agenda.

The Peace Corps is not opening up to younger volunteers, which might lead people to think 18-21-year-olds, but rather it is reaching out to community colleges.

This reader can only assume that the truth does not generate the negative image the DDN is after. Its own research indicates the average age of a community-college student is 29.

However, the next leap in the story made the DDN 's agenda to smear the Peace Corps obvious. It points out that 57 percent of students at community colleges are women, compared to 55 percent at four-year colleges, and thus the focus on community colleges will result in placing more women in dangerous positions overseas.

First, this assumes that the Peace Corps is more dangerous than our country. Second, is a 2 percent difference in the number of women in community colleges really going to have a statistical effect on the number of women in the Peace Corps?
