I was born in the 1930's and was a strong democrat for most of my life. George W. Bush will go down in history as one of the most important and "President of the Time" in the history of the United States. Thank God for a President who is protecting the values that have made America what it is and not a 2nd or 3rd world country.

You can say that again! I'm all for protecting the values of rich corporate Jesus lovin' WASP America! I'm all for locking up all non-patriots and throwing away the keys--we don't need trials, we're running a deficit by golly and gotta save money somewhere! If only the unemployed weren't so lazy...there's thousands of manufacturing jobs we created in the fast food industry. And them Homogaysexuals! Don't get me started with them! It ain't right, why should they have the opportunity to get divorced like the rest of us?

Dubya will only be historically important as one of those presidents known for squandering the opportunity to show the world how great we can be--instead he chose to make us the world's bully and ironically did more for terrorist recruitment than Bin Ladin and the Taliban.

I would like to thank McDono1208 for such a thoughtful and mature message. That person seems to have a solid understanding of what is REALLY going on in the world today. Unfortunately, most of the messages posted in this forum come from narrow minded, self-centered, ego maniacs, who have very little understanding of US or World history, economics, culture, international relations, or even human relations for that matter. RPCVNWP is a good example of that mentality. That person, as well as many others who leave messages here, come across as being concerned about nothing beyond their own self interests, and appear to be unable to take a realistic view of the anything or anyone with an opposing opinion. McDono1208, I hereby apologize for the disrespect that RPCVNWP has shown you. You are entitled to your opinion, just as RPCVnwp is, and you should not have been subjected to such a tirade. Personally, I have become disenchanted with the narrow-mindedness of many RPCV's, and have become repulsed by the ignorance they show concerning world events today. At times, I am actually ashamed of being associated with people who think and act with such unabated and misguided hatred. They are an embarassment to common sense and reason, and are much worse that those that they accuse. But, as has been said in another place in this forum, voices such as those will be insignificant in the upcoming election, and much to their dismay, President Bush will be re-elected, and the country and the world will be better for it.

I missed the thoughful and mature message you to which you refer. The freedoms that I value as represented in the Constitution of the US are not being supported by Bush. Freedom of Speach is the first to go. Having also been born in the 30's I can remember the MaCarthy period which we seem to be going through again. I also remember when the US was loved as a country that believed in helping others and freedom of religion. Now I see us as telling others what they must do because that is what the President wants. I see us developing religious wars. Are these the values that you make reference to. Enlighting me please. I have had the opportunity to have lived and worked in Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Czech, Austria, China, Egypt, Ireland and Mexico. I have seen first hand what our current policies had fostered. What is it that you have seen that I should know?

Bush is hardly a leader. He is a front man. That is obvious, because everytime he opens his mouth(when he doesn't have a speech written) he doesn't make any sense. Still the democratic party is even more pathetic. I come from a liberal thinking, democratic family, but since 9/11, I saw the true colors of the Democrats. Spineless, full of shit, and only willing to come to your ghetto at election time. Democracy is a facade in this country, that was seen at the last election when there was clear voter fraud in Florida. It may be a good thing if Bush helps the Peace Corps, because he creates war whereever he goes, but at least you know what to expect from him. He isn't a flipflopper democrat who says one thing and does another A person in the earlier frame said we need to look at world politics and culture, and I agree, but not with same conclusion as they came upon. The US is an empire, lets not fool ourselves, otherwise we wouldn't be concerning ourselves with this so called war on terrorism(as if terrorism hasn't existed forever) We are directly and indirectly responsible for much of the worlds problems today and electing kerry or bush isn't going to solve anything
