Letter from President George W. Bush on Peace Corps Anniversary
Letter from President George W. Bush on Peace Corps Anniversary
The White House
February 17, 2004
I send greetings to those celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the Peace Corps.
Since its founding in 1961, the Peace Corps has offered hope and relieved suffering and hunger. Through programs focused on promoting agriculture, business, education, health care and the environment, Peace Corps volunteers have addressed the needs of disadvantaged people around the world and helped to create long-term growth in developing countries.
I appreciate Peace Corps volunteers for your commitment to advancing peace, prosperity and understanding. Your work has improved lives and inspired many others to serve.
Laura joins me in sending our best wishes on this special occasion.
George Bush
