Houston: Indian American and former Peace Corps' Chief Information Officer Gopal Khanna has been acknowledged as one of the Federal 100 - a recognition of the top executives from government, industry and academia who had the greatest impact on the US government information systems community in 2003.

The 2004 Federal 100 awards were presented to hundred leaders who made a difference in federal information technology during the 2003 calendar year, at a celebratory event in Washington on March 16.

The winners were nominated by Federal Computer Week readers and selected by an independent panel of judges for their contributions to the development, acquisition or management of federal IT.

Khanna was appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Peace Corps under current Director Gaddi H. Vasquez.

The CIO is a senior policy-making position, responsible for strategising and directing the information technology functions for the agency.

As CIO, Khanna successfully managed and enhanced the systems technology of the Peace Corps. In October of 2003, Khanna was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Peace Corps - charged with overseeing the financial planning and growth of the agency.

Do you realize that Gopal Khanna has a consulting business in Minneapolis called ITC (International Technology Consultants) that owes consultants significant sums of money? They owe me around $3000, and they have been paid by the client that I was working for (Medtronic.) They sent me a letter stating they could not make payroll (I was a W-2 employee) and they would pay me as soon as possible. This has been over 3 months ago. Gopal Khanna tries to distance himself from this company, but he is pulling the strings. They misappropriated funds to try to develop some useless software that they were going to try to sell. Then they had to factor their receivables for cash flow. They factored all of them even though there were several clients that paid so quickly that it made no sense to factor there receivables.

They have received payment but I have not. He's getting awards, and he can't even operate a small consulting business. This is an outrage!
