The Washington Post is reporting that Fiji RPCV and Congressman Chris Shays is on Bush's short list to run the Central Intelligence Agency. "The likelihood of their choosing me, I think, is fairly remote," Shays said but added that he would consider the job if it were offered. Meanwhile Shays is in a competitive race for his seat in Connecticut. What do you think?

Shays must not accept the post (if it is offered to him), as he is an RPCV. It sends the wrong message to the world. The comments of Shays alone (stating that he would consider the job if offered) may have already caused irreperable harm to Peace Corps programs in certain countries.

There is no such thing as a "former PCV." If you've served and returned, you are a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Never should there be even the appearance of a connection between our intelligence agencies and Peace Corps. It's that simple.

I echo C. Gallagher. As usual, he is absolutely right. Even the speculation that an RPCV would be considered for Director of the CIA links the two organization in a risky way. JUST SAY NO, CHRIS
