John Fry asks if we should send PCVs to Iraq
John Fry asks if we should send PCVs to Iraq
Editor, New Era:
I read the front page, Aug. 5 news report, "Brothers in battle," about the East Petersburg brothers going off to war. It is a known fact that both Marines support the just war and peace policies of their commander in chief, George W. Bush, in the Middle East conflict. God bless both brothers and their family members.
Our beloved president, George W. Bush, also upholds the national peace policies for a volunteer Peace Corps mission in Iraq. Yes, "Hope is on the way" for Iraq because our president has the faith- based backing of the U.S. military and the U.S. Peace Corps volunteers in the Middle East conflict.
U.S. military stationed in Iraq need the backing of the U.S. Peace Corps, too. Not one of the Democratic speakers at their National Convention in Boston promised to give hope or send Peace Corps volunteers into Iraq. Their Democratic Convention presented a message of false hope to American citizens and a false hope for a secure peace in Iraq.
