Prominent Elected and Appointed Officials to Attend Hispanic Gala in New York

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Board of Directors of The Latino Coalition (TLC) announced today that top Republican elected and appointed officials are scheduled to attend their "Gran Fiesta Hispana Salsa Party" to be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 in New York City during the Republican National Convention. The event will be held from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Rainbow Room, located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza 65th Floor.

Four members of President Bush's cabinet are scheduled to attend the TLC Gala on Tuesday night: HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson, Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, Interior Secretary Gale Norton and Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. These cabinet members will join White House Advisor Karl Rove, WH Intergovernmental Affairs Director Ruben Barrales, Peace Corps Director Gadi Vasquez, SBA Administrator Hector Barreto, HHS Assistant Secretary for Aging Josefina Carbonell and EEOC Chairwoman Cari Dominguez, among others. Rep. David Dreier, Henry Bonilla, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen are among many of the Members of Congress scheduled to attend this celebration. Also attending will be a wide range of state legislators and elected officials from across the country, such as Nevada Attorney General Brian Sandoval, FL State Representative Marco Rubio, VA State delegate Jeff Frederick, and CA State legislators Bonnie Garcia and Abel Maldonado, among others.

The entertainment highlight of the event will be a performance by the "Salsa Princess" La India and her orchestra. We will also be hosting a "Celebrity Poker Tournament" hosted by Bravo TV's Phil Gordon. TV personalities Carlos Ponce ("Entertainment Tonight") and Rachel Campos ("Real World" & "The View") will serve as emcees of this Gala Celebration. Mexican singer and actress Laura Flores will also perform at this Gala. Bravo's Celebrity Poker star Phil Brandon, NFL Stars Jim Kelly and Brian Kinchen, and singer Jaci Velazquez, will be among the many celebrities scheduled to attend.
